A member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, MP Dr. Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, commented on the words of the President of the Lebanese Republic, Joseph Aoun, before the delegation of economic bodies, regarding the statement issued by the US State Department, and what it included in giving the Israeli enemy the freedom to continue its attacks on Lebanon, and that this had previously been stated in the November 2024 agreement. It is important for us to emphasize the following: He said, "The ceasefire agreement on November 27, 2024 did not include, neither remotely nor remotely, any mention of giving the enemy any privileges or rights or free rein to attack Lebanon. On the contrary, it gave Lebanon its natural right to self-defense in accordance with international law." He stressed that "any other talk that took place outside of this agreement was implicit between the American administration and the enemy." Therefore, what the President of the Republic stated, at a minimum, constitutes severe confusion and confusion of matters, which requires immediate review and correction. He pointed out that the US State Department statement, which gives the enemy the right to attack Lebanon and invade its land, constitutes a dangerous precedent, especially since it was issued in the name of and on behalf of the three gathered parties. If Lebanon is not concerned with this content and does not agree with it, then what is required is a clear and frank position that rejects this publicly, as internal statements are not enough. He continued: “The massive destruction, daily killing, and comprehensive invasion by the Israeli enemy is taking place, in which the enemy can rely on the justification stated by the President of the Republic, that this is among his established rights previously and currently, and that what he has done and is doing is agreed upon with Lebanon and with full Lebanese partnership and consent.” Therefore, out of concern for sovereignty and the position of the Presidency of the Republic, and to eliminate all ambiguity, what is required is a clear and frank position to drop the enemy’s claims and disavow all of its crimes. In the same context, he stressed that the systematic destruction of villages requires diplomatic mobilization that begins with the Security Council and does not end with the various international bodies and influential countries, all the way to the neglectful and negligent Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In conclusion, Al-Moussawi hoped that what was issued by the President of the Republic was the result of unintended ambiguities and could be corrected, because otherwise is an actual disaster.
